PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS REQUIRES PROFESSIONAL PROTECTION
CORPORATE INVESTIGATIONS
In today’s ultra competitive market and against a backdrop of financial uncertainty, businesses and departments face an ever-increasing range of internal and external threats to their physical, personnel, intelligence and financial assets. In direct response to a growing demand and in our commitment to help safeguard our clients’ corporate well-being and profitability, Commissionaires Ottawa is pleased to announce that we now offer a full Corporate Investigation Service.
This service is conducted by professional investigators who have extensive training and experience in both domestic/international policing, as well as overt/covert investigations.
Commissionaires Ottawa Corporate Investigation professionals have expertise in Major Case Management, Statement Analysis, Evidence Collection, Interview Techniques, Preparation of Reports and Delivering Testimony.
Our investigators are ethically sound, strictly adhere to a stringent code of conduct and are licensed by the governments of Ontario and Quebec to provide investigative services. In particular (but not limited to), Commissionaires Ottawa investigators are highly efficient at investigating:

- Abuse of disability and compensation benefits or insurance claims;
- Security investigations or breaches of security;
- Negligence or misconduct;
- Harassment in the workplace;
- Pre-employment background checks; and
- Conduct thorough and extensive research related to government programs and policies.
When an organization is faced with an allegation or suspicion of wrongdoing raised by either a fellow employee, third party or another department, the response must be prompt as must be the decision on how the matter is to be investigated. Commissionaires Ottawa is in a position to help organizations reach a conclusion that is based on the most accurate facts available, which in turn allows for sound legal conclusions to be drawn, in a timely, thorough, cost effective and proportionate manner.
THREAT AND RISK ASSESSMENT
According to the Government Security Policy, ‘’Assets must be safeguarded according to a baseline security requirement and continuous security management’’. While this is true for government departments, it is also true for corporate businesses. However, baseline security may not be sufficient for more valuable assets faced with more serious threats. To address these issues and to provide managers with continuous risk management, ‘’Threat and Risk Assessments’’ has been identified as an effective tool and should be completed on a regular basis in order to mitigate the risks.
Using the Harmonized Threat and Risk Assessment Methodology (HRTA) developed by the RCMP, Commissionaires Ottawa is in a position to provide managers with such assessments. Because of our unique structure and social mandate, investigators from Commissionaires Ottawa have obtained training in the HRTA, which is not usually available to the private sector.
When called upon, our investigators will identify threats, potential vulnerabilities and residual risks that demonstrate an unacceptable level of risk and, based on this, propose the addition, removal or modification of safeguards that will, once implemented, achieve the targeted acceptable level of risk you and your organization will have determined. Armed with these recommendations, the departments/businesses managers will be in better positions to understand and make decisions regarding the potential and real threats affecting their assets and determine the most cost effective way to mitigate those threats.
Commissionaires Ottawa has deservedly earned a reputation for integrity and reliability ‘’Trusted Everyday Everywhere’’. We are a well trained diverse team of former military as well as many police personnel of all ages who are entrusted with the safeguarding of people and assets of private, municipal, provincial and federal governments. Our investigators are professionals. They possess high ethical standards and strictly adhere to a stringent code of conduct. They will provide clients with the necessary support to understand the process and, at the end of the assessment, provide them with the necessary documents/tools to move forward beyond the assessment itself.
