Digital Fingerprinting

Digital Fingerprinting

Do you need digital fingerprints?

Are you a federal government contractor or federal government employee? Are you immigrating to Canada, applying for Canadian Citizenship or applying for Permanent Residence in Canada? Are you planning to adopt a child from a foreign country? Do you have travel plans that require a police clearance before you can obtain a visa? These are some of the non-criminal reasons you may need fingerprints—because they protect you by securing your identity and confirming your law-abiding integrity.

There are new rules affecting federal government contractors and employees

Digital fingerprinting is required for federal government contractors and federal government employees who need a security clearance.

As of February 1st, 2017, all federal government contractors and federal government employees who need a security clearance are required to obtain digital fingerprints. Every industry that does business with the federal government is affected, including:

  • Accounting
  • Communications
  • Construction
  • Fabrication
  • Food Services
  • Information Technology
  • Janitorial Services
  • Professional Trades
  • Research and Analysis
  • And many more…

Since 2006, Commissionaires has been accredited by the RCMP to provide digital fingerprinting services across Canada. In order to meet these requirements and prevent delays in completing your security clearance, make an appointment with us.  We offer extended hours and weekend appointments.

We are professional, knowledgeable, trusted

All digital fingerprinting is supervised by knowledgeable security professionals who will answer questions and help guide the process in a confidential setting. Our service is recognized by local police departments. Our digital fingerprinting services also meet the Government of Canada’s new requirement that all federal government contractors and all federal government employees who require a security clearance obtain digital fingerprints.

Mobile and VIP group processing available

If you need VIPs or groups processed for greater discretion or convenience, Commissionaires offers mobile digital fingerprinting services—we can come to you. If you live outside of Canada, we can even digitize ink fingerprints and submit them electronically to the RCMP on your behalf.

Criminal background checks

If you thought police stations were the only place you could get criminal background checks done, think again.

The most convenient, most discrete and fastest way to get a criminal record check is through our electronic criminal record check (eCPIC) service which you can access from your home, your office, or anywhere with an Internet connection. The online application process is available 24/7.

Commissionaires has been providing criminal background checks since 2006. On average, Commissionaires branches across Canada process about 20,000 CPIC requests and 50,000 digital fingerprints per year.

Here’s how the online criminal record check service works:

  • Create an account at www.eCPICCanada.com to receive an automated email
  • Click on the secure link in the email to go to the secure online environment
  • Submit your online payment (MasterCard or Visa)
  • Answer a series of credit history questions to verify your identity
  • Once your identity is verified, your eCPIC application will be submitted automatically through a direct connection to our police partner and processed within 24-48 hours
  • Receive the results by email

Note: If we are unable to verify your identity online, you be prompted to visit a Commissionaires office to verify your identity in person. If you do visit a Commissionaires office, we provide a confidential setting where individual rights and privacy are assured.

Record Suspensions (Pardons)

Record suspensions (pardons)

People may suffer discrimination, restricted freedom and lost opportunities because of a criminal record—even if they have changed their ways and lived for many years as a responsible, law-abiding citizen. A record suspension can free your future, clearing the way for a new beginning.

Let Commissionaires make getting a record suspension simple and pain free: You will be required to submit fingerprints as part of your application (we can do that) and we can also assist you with your record suspension application at every step of the way.

At Commissionaires, you will be treated with courtesy and respect—regardless of your background or the circumstances surrounding your record suspension. We offer a confidential setting where your individual rights and privacy are assured.

US Entry Waivers

US entry waivers

The United States can refuse admission to any person convicted of a criminal offence. This means that if you have a criminal record, you should obtain a US Entry Waiver to ensure that you will not be turned back at the border and that you can legally travel to, or through, the US.

Anyone granted a US Entry Waiver should be at no risk of being refused entry to the US. A US Entry Waiver overrides any personal discretion that US border guards may have.

Obtaining an I-192 waiver to travel to the United States will require fingerprints (we provide this service) and we can also help you with the US Entry Waiver application process. At Commissionaires, you will be treated with courtesy and respect. We offer a confidential setting where your individual rights and privacy are assured.
